David Schuler

President / Manager

Background
Born and raised in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Graduated from Floyd Central High School. I grew up in the residential home building business.

Favorite Activities
I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, reading, farming, and supporting charities within our community to make it a better place.

Heroes
My father is my hero. At a very young age, he instilled in us that loyalty, honesty, and hard work are the keys to success. He taught me to never give up on a task and always complete what you start to the best of your ability. He also taught us to be humble and that doing the right thing is not always easy, but is essential to long-term success.

Different Hats I Wear
Guiding the future of ASB, motivating our team members, and supplying them with the knowledge and tools needed to succeed in their roles within the company.

Most Outstanding Thing ASB Does
I feel that our customer service is unrivaled. We truly care and go above and beyond before, during, and after the sale. We have a dedicated team member focused on customer care after the sale. That is how important our customers are to ASB and the Schuler family.

Teamwork at ASB
ASB team members are like family. We work together and our families play together. When a team member needs help or is having a bad day, the rest of the team jumps to help them out. Most companies pay lip service to this kind of environment, but we truly have it. There are currently 5 Schulers involved in ASB.

How ASB Instills Confidence in Our Customers
References and reputation say more about our company than any single thing I could tell prospective customers. Trust is based upon actions. That is why actually doing the right thing day in and day out is so important. We have been building homes for over 30 years now in our hometown.

Laura Schuler Shade

Vice President

Background
I was born and raised in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. I graduated from Providence Catholic High School and attended Indiana University Southeast.

Favorite Activities
I enjoy spending time with my husband, Billy and our 4 children. We love the outdoors.

Heroes
My Mother and Father are my heroes. Their commitment to raising myself and four siblings with family values that all five of us carry on today is simply amazing.

Different Hats I Wear
I am the first person a potential customer meets when they are planning to build a custom home. I introduce the customer to ASB and discuss their goals and how ASB can help them achieve their goals. I work with customers to have plans drawn to meet their needs all the way through the process of signing the agreement. At that point we phase into the designing phase of customizing colors and style. I work alongside the superintendent to make sure all the details come together. My job is to take the pressure off of the client on a project that may seem overwhelming to accomplish.

Most Outstanding Thing ASB does
The most outstanding thing ASB does is align our core values and goals day in and day out. We stand for what is right and because of that we are successful.

Teamwork at ASB
No one person can make ASB successful. Our entire team working as a family the way dad taught us makes ASB successful.

How ASB Instills Confidence in Our Customers
ASB follows through in what we say we are going to do. We stand behind our word and our reputation reflects that. Honesty is an understatement. It is our #1 core value.

Heroes
My heroes would be my wife, Chasity, and my Mom and Dad.

Different Hats I Wear
I manage the overall workflow of the company. At any given time, I have to know the status and prioritization of every job, pre-construction, during the build, and after closing. My hand is on the pulse of every employee, sub-contractor, and supplier to make things go as smoothly as possible. No employee at ASB is more important that the next, and we all make a great team.

Most Outstanding Thing ASB does
ASB stands behind its product and puts the customer first, even after closing.

Different Hats I Wear
As a superintendent you wear many hats from interacting with buyers, coordinating schedules and sub-contractors, weatherman (predicting when the rain may or may not come), as well as working together with other team members to ensure each and every home is delivered to every buyer as if it were our own. During these challenging times this has been daunting at times, but this team has done what it takes to deliver a quality home to our customers.

Most Outstanding Thing ASB does
We are completely honest and deliver the best home for each customer at the price point they need.

Teamwork at ASB
We work together like a family.

Favorite Activities
I enjoy spending time outdoors, and with family and friends.

Heroes
My heroes include my parents, grandparents, and especially my wife, Kelsi.

Different Hats I Wear
My primary role as superintendent is monitoring the home building process while following our Quality Assure procedures. I work with the trades and team members to deliver a quality product we are all proud of.

Most Outstanding Thing ASB does
ASB goes above and beyond to ensure that its customers have a relatively easy and low pressure experience while still getting the high quality product they envisioned. One of the ways we try to achieve this is by genuinely caring for our clients’ interest, not just our own. Often, you will hear the phrase “What would you do if it were yours?” being asked in the ASB office and on job sites. That is the way ASB team members are trained; to treat every home as if it were their own. This helps establish a mindset that keeps the customers best interest in mind, and it shows in the final product.

Background
I have lived in Southern Indiana all my life. I was raised on the family farm in Floyds Knobs which instilled dedication and hard work in all I do. I attended Floyds Central High School before transferring to Providence High School where I graduated in 1995. I was in retail management for 15 years before coming to ASB in 2012.

Favorite Activities
I love taking a quiet moment to sit in my rocking chair on my front porch on a beautiful morning and read. Spending time with our tribe of 5 is never boring to say the least. They keep us on our toes. Time to visit the family farm to play or work is one of my favorite things to do. Sitting out on our deck which we call “The Oasis” surrounded by nature, wide range of music, company, and spirits on beautiful evenings is always a bonus.

Heroes
I have so many heroes I pull strength from. To choose one, I would have to say my father. Our family calls him “The myth, the man, the legend.” He fought to make the best out of every day that he lived. Dad taught me to fight for what I love and believe in. If you fall, get back up, dust yourself off, and try again. One of his favorite sayings or quotes, “this too shall pass,” has helped me see the light at the end of a struggle more times than not.
